05 Day Private Tour by Car

Day 1 – Arrival | Airport → Pinnawala → Dambulla → Sigiriya

  • Meet and greet at Bandaranaike International Airport.
  • Travel to Pinnawala – approximately 90 km / 2.5–3 hours.
  • Visit an elephant experience centre.
  • Continue to Dambulla – approximately 65 km / 1.5–2 hours.
  • Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Continue to Sigiriya and enjoy a traditional village experience with a bullock-cart ride.

Overnight:Sigiriya

Day 2 – Sigiriya → Minneriya / Kaudulla → Polonnaruwa

  • Visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Enjoy a wildlife safari in Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park.
  • Continue to Polonnaruwa – approximately 70 km / 1.5–2 hours.
  • Explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, including Gal Vihara and other historic sites.

Overnight:Polonnaruwa

Day 3 –Polonnaruwa → Trincomalee

  • Travel to Trincomalee – approximately 100 km / 2.5–3 hours.
  • Visit Koneswaram Temple and enjoy views from Lover's Leap.
  • Relax at Uppuveli or Nilaveli Beach.
  • Visit Fort Frederick and explore historic Trincomalee.
  • Visit the Kanniya Hot Wells, depending on available time and local conditions.

Overnight:Trincomalee

Day 4 – Trincomalee → Pigeon Island → Sigiriya

  • Optional whale and dolphin-watching excursion, subject to season and sea conditions.
  • Visit Pigeon Island National Park, subject to weather and park conditions.
  • Enjoy opportunities for snorkelling and exploring the surrounding marine environment.
  • Return to Trincomalee and continue to Sigiriya – approximately 150 km / 3.5–4 hours.

Overnight:Sigiriya

Day 5 – Sigiriya → Kandy → Airport

  • Travel to Kandy – approximately 90 km / 3 hours, excluding stops.
  • Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
  • Explore Kandy Lake and the city centre.
  • Visit the Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya.
  • Visit a tea plantation or tea factory and enjoy a tea-tasting experience.
  • Continue to Bandaranaike International Airport – approximately 110 km / 3–3.5 hours.
